Lead me in the Paths
of Righteousness
“Order my steps in thy word, and let not any iniquity
have dominion over me.”
Psalm 119:133
Before God can successfully lead you in the paths of righteousness, He first restores your soul to be a servant to the king, your spirit man, who is commonly known as your conscience. The soul is comprised of your mind, will, and emotions. You are only going to prosper and be in health according to the level your soul prospers. The condition of your soul determines if you will indeed choose the best.
To have good success in life, your thoughts, choices, and feelings are first transformed by the Word under the tutorship of the Holy Spirit, so you can move with precision when making judgments. Endeavor to clearly see both sides of every decision in front of you and/or trust the prompting of the Holy Spirit to reveal or manifest the unseen things. Don’t just look at it as a good or bad choice. Instead, make it a practice to ask yourself every time, “Does this outcome lead you to eternal life or premature death?” "Is the decision based on faith or fear?
The success you have in life is determined by which part leads you around: your spirit; soul; or flesh. The spirit man should be king because it is the part God illuminates. Although the soul is fit like a king, it is a servant of righteousness to the spirit. The flesh is a slave, so must be put away for life without parole.
If you don't make provision for your soul to be restored, the unbelieving heart will capture all your thoughts, choices, and feelings to accept its railing deceptions. Jeremiah 17:9 gives you revelation about the unbelieving heart and its power to twist the truth. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Truthfully, your own heart can talk you out of the blessings of God and you may not even know it.
The unbelieving heart is why standards and expectations of many are so low. The unbelieving heart is not established in the Word of God. It is distracted by the cares of this world and the lusts of other things. On the other hand, a new heart that's created after Christ Jesus will elevate your standards and expectations to the highest place so you can receive God’s best. It is transformed by the infallible Word of God, which helps you to believe the best.
God purposed a tailor-made plan for all of us. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in His way.” The Living Bible expresses it this way in Psalm 25:12-13. “Where is the man who fears the Lord? God will teach him how to choose the best. He shall live within God’s circle of blessing, and his children shall inherit the earth.” Allow the Word of God to order your steps and the Holy Spirit to place you at the head of the line and not the tail. His steps will position you above in everything only, and not beneath in anything ever. You can be content with where He leads you, but never be complacent. (to be continued)
