Branch of Righteousness

“The people also shall be all righteous:

they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting,

the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.”

Isaiah 60:21

The Old Testament introduces God as Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord our Righteousness. Note that Jehovah Tsidkenu is the only name of God that completely covers restoration and succession. God promised His people in Jeremiah 33rd chapter; victory in war, health, preservation, peace, truth, restoration of praise, forgiveness of sins, fame of the Lord, prosperity, joy, gladness, inhabited lands, safety, and a royal heritage to pass on to the generations that follow. These promises are still effective today for the ruling righteous.

            God secretly prepared the way to lawfully redeem us from satan, without breaking His own law. God assigned Jesus as an undercover agent for the kingdom of God. In God’s covert operations, Jesus was called the Branch of Righteousness. He was announced as the one God ordained to restore the order, balance, and wholeness as originally purposed. To accomplish this awesome task, Jesus Christ took on God’s name, Jehovah Tsidkenu, for God’s people who were called by His name, the Lord our Righteousness, so restoration could take place. Jesus Christ reconciled us to God, so we can be the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that God might be glorified.

            Jeremiah 33:14-16 illustrates this: “Behold the days come saith the Lord that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of Righteousness, to grow up unto David; and He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah dwell safely; and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our Righteousness.”

            Jesus also qualifies to assume all the other names of God mentioned in the Old Testament. Truthfully, the name of Jesus completely satisfies every character trait of God. God highly exalted Jesus Christ and has given Him a name that is above all names. Jesus is a name that must be honored by every name, no matter how impossible the name; debt, disease, depression, defeat, despondency, death, or destruction.

            You know that an offshoot stays connected to its source to receive perpetual life. Time and time again this can be seen in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ in the earth. Jesus never once acted independently of God but displayed a very intimate relationship with Him. It was the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that gave Jesus a seamless connection with God. He clearly showed God’s heart and hand every time by enthroning Him as His Lord. Isaiah 11:1-5,10 demonstrates Jesus’ appointment, assignment, and approach. “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of His roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

            “And shall make Him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord; and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears: But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth: with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins; and faithfulness the girdle of His reins. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and His rest shall be glorious.”

            Abiding in the True Vine nurtures you, the branch of righteousness, to fulfill the same mission that Jesus has, but with greater results because of the authority of His anointing. Jesus affirmed this stance in John 15:1-7, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman. Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit, He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
