Abraham was spiritually blinded when he just focused his efforts on getting a son by any means necessary. When God became Abraham’s exceeding, great reward, the provision manifested. The result, Isaac was conceived in a shorter time period.
You cannot want the created thing more than your intimacy with the Creator, God. Make the Most High God your greatest portion so the desires of your heart will come to you without any delay. Your determined purpose is to always be able to choose God over His promises. Don’t follow the dream. Be a man or woman that follows hard after God’s own heart. Then the vision will find you irresistible and will surely come, honestly speak, and won't be late with the provision.
Psalm 37:4 entreats us to, “Delight thyself also in the Lord, and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” The Hebrew word for “delight” is for your heart to be pliable immediately. Learn to bend and stretch at God’s pleasure. Be ready to automatically worship the Most High God in spirit and in truth. Worship always precedes the manifestation of your desires. Obedience and service are the greatest forms of worship. When there was no higher compensation than God, Abraham received full restoration. His faith accompanied by works (i.e., obedience and service from a willing heart) agreed with God’s purpose and plan alone.
As your example of walking by faith, Abraham simply trusted God as you would the word of a trusted friend. In the Word, God noted Abraham was His own friend, which was the foundation of their covenant relationship. In John 15:15, Jesus confirmed that He desires to show us His secrets because He classifies us as a covenant partner. On the other hand, servants never know his master's heart. "Henceforth, I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."
Remember, Abraham did not have a bible as we know it; or gospel teaching by tape or television. Abraham had the best evidence, a divinely inspired word from God. Only when God saw Abraham’s heart and mouth aligned with His vision, his faith was recognized and accepted as righteousness. From Abraham's heavenly account, salvation was then released in the earth to bring about the seemingly, impossible promise. Isaac was born to Abraham (100 years old) and Sarah (90 years old, who didn’t believe the initial announcement because she had always been barren).
